چکیده

This paper presents a method for video sequence coding, using motion estimation over a triangular object-based mesh. We introduce a novel “crack line” notion to deal with motion discontinuities and to improve representation scalability. The optimization of the nodal motion vectors is performed by means of a multi-resolution differential method, further improved by “backward in forward” tracking. To illustrate the proposed methods, results concerning the motion compensation of a mesh are reported.

New adaptive interpolation schemes for efficient meshbased motion estimation

Motion estimation and compensation is an essential part of existing video coding systems. The mesh-based motion estimation (MME) produces smoother motion field, better subjective quality (free from blocking artifacts), and higher peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) in many cases, especially at low bitrate video communications, compared to the conventional block matching algorithm (BMA). Howev...

Dynamic Fracture Analysis Using an Uncoupled Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian Finite Element Formulation

This paper deals with the implementation of an efficient Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian (ALE) formulation for the three dimensional finite element modeling of mode I self-similar dynamic fracture process. Contrary to the remeshing technique, the presented algorithm can continuously advance the crack with the one mesh topology. The uncoupled approach is employed to treat the equations. So, each t...

Algorithm-based low-power VLSI architecture for 2D mesh video-object motion tracking

This paper presents an algorithm-based low-power VLSI architecture for video object (VO) motion tracking. The new architecture uses a novel hierarchical adaptive structured mesh topology. The structured mesh offers a significant reduction in the number of bits that describe the mesh topology. The motion of the mesh nodes represents the deformation of the VO. The motion compensation is performed...

Progressive Mesh-Based Motion Estimation Using Partial Refinement

A technique for performing progressive mesh-based motion estimation in a layered fashion is presented. Motion compensation based on image warping provides a block prediction free of block artifacts. The smooth prediction can be used to identify motion-active regions by comparing with the reference frame and generate a partial denser mesh, thus forming layers of mesh. This approach provides a hi...
